Truck driver gets scare of his life on I-10 between Boerne and Kerrville

A truck driver who only wants to go by the name of “Ray” was driving on I-10 westbound, just west of Boerne yesterday afternoon when he started hearing a knocking on the back of his cab. To his surprise, he had an extra passenger on his rig, but not in a seat. There was a man riding between his cab and his trailer.

Ray said that he immediately called 911 and slowed down to the minimum allowed speed on I-10. Kendall County 911 informed him that they didn’t think that a Kendall County Sheriff Deputy would get to him by the time he crossed over into Kerr County and transferred him over to Kerr County dispatchers who took the call at Mile Marker 516.

According to Ray, 911 dispatchers told him to stop at Mile Marker 501 on I-10 Westbound. When he came to a stop, the man on on the back of his cab jumped off and ran across the median. That’s when Kerr County Sheriff Officers started chasing the man. They caught him shortly afterward and took him into custody.

While jail records don’t show any crimes for riding on the back of the truck, they do show that he was arrested for “Evading Arrest or Detention” and an “Immigration Violation”. His address is listed as only “Honduras”.

Ray says that the last place that he stopped before learning about his extra passenger was at a truck stop at George West, Texas, which is over 100 miles away. He said he drove straight up I-37, crossed through San Antonio on I-35 and was taking I-10, hoping to get to El Paso by the end of the day.
