Storms rolled through the area today, bringing much needed rain for the area, and a startling experience for students and teachers at Foundations Academy in Kerrville this afternoon.

Foundations Academy Administrator Sheila Hux confirmed to KBN tonight, that lightning struck the roof turbine vent on top of one of the classrooms. She said that the impact of the lightning was so loud, that people from KPUB came running out across the street to see what was going on. She did say that the students were a little startled, but the teachers and staff did a great job at handling the situation and an evacuation was done just as a precaution.

The fire alarms did go off, but not from fire. Kerrville Fire Department was called to investigate and double check that there indeed was no fire, which there was not. Electricians are working on the fire alarm system, and as long as they can get it fixed tonight, school will resume as normal tomorrow.

Foundations Academy is an accredited school and is now enrolling students from Pre-K 3&4 through 12th grade. They are located at 2300 Memorial Blvd in Kerrville.
