This event is going on right now! Here are some pictures of our young entrepreneurs!
Original Story: On May 12, there is going to be a Children’s Business Fair being held at Louise Hays Park. This unique event will give local kids in our community the opportunity to experience being an entrepreneur for the day.
48 kids, over the last few weeks, have been creating a product or service, launching a business, and calculating cost versus profit in preparation for the business fair.
The kids will be in charge of selling on the day of the fair. This will be a friendly competition with the opportunity to win $50 per category.
The categories include most original, highest business potential, and best presentation. There will be 3 winners in each age group.
The Children’s Business Fair states, “We want to see young entrepreneurs inspired and equipped so they will courageously pursue creative endeavors in the future. Because we firmly believe in learning through challenges and the adage ‘fail often, early and as cheaply as possible,’ we have asked all adults to take a back seat and let the young entrepreneurs solve problems on their own.”
“We believe every child is a genius. This fair is an opportunity for them to courageously face challenges, develop grit, and learn in a hands-on way all while having fun. We are excited to see what these bright minds will come up with!” says Heidi Mills, an organizer of the event.
On May 12th, the young entrepreneurs will start selling at 10 AM until 12:30 PM and an awards ceremony will follow.
This event is free and open to the public and family friendly games and activities will be happening as well.
The Children’s Business Fair will take place at Louise Hays Park at the Large Pavillion located at 202 Thompson Drive in Kerrville.
