Adventure Tejas is a local family owned business with big plans. A few years ago, Stephen Cavazos and his father-in-law Wesley Ely opened their business, which facilitates tours for motorcycle adventure riders. With bikes that weigh in at about 530 pounds, without gear, they mainly travel on dirt roads and go through rough terrain.

Each year Adventure Tejas partners with Ultimate Sacrifice Association, based out of the Dallas area, to raise funds and awareness for their Run To The Rockies charity ride.

Ultimate Sacrifice Association is dedicated to “improve the overall quality of life for those spouses, children and members of Firefighters, Law Enforcement Officers, and U.S. Military who have lost their lives or have debilitating injuries as a result of their service.”

For the charity ride, Adventure Tejas rides cross country, with the help of sponsors. The ride will be a 3,000 mile, 2-week long trip. This year, the riders will start near San Antonio, TX and will head West to Cortez, CO to start the COBDR. They will travel 635 miles over dirt, gravel and sand roads, and nine high mountain passes before ending the trail in WY.

During the return journey to Hurst, Texas, they will follow the Trans America Trail, Shadow of The Rockies South, to Trinidad, CO before returning to Texas. When they arrive at their final stop, they will celebrate at the Cost of Freedom event with Freedom Powersports as well as many other supporters and service men and women.

Ely and Cavazos have taken two previous charity tours that were a success and this year they hope to make the trip more well known so that those interested in adventure riding and those who wish to donate to the partnered charity will have the opportunity to be involved.

The two local men are excited to see the growth this year as there has been growing every year in the past. Growth that supported their business as well as the Ultimate Sacrifice Association charity.

The first year in business, the pair planned a tour and then, during a last-minute decision, they decided to ride for a cause, picking Ultimate Sacrifice Association.

They started with 4 total riders, including themselves. This year they are expecting at least 6 riders but welcome anyone with a bike and gear to join them.

Riders are encouraged to complete the tour but it is not required. If a participant can only ride for a few days, they are still welcome to come along.

For the ride coming up, projected to happen August 4-18, they have been reaching out and using resources to get the word out about their business and the charity ride.

Cavazos says, “There are a lot of riders out there but sometimes they are hard to find.”

As their event grows closer they want to be sure future participants, sponsors, and donors know where to go for more information.

If you would like to donate to the charity ride, you can do so by visiting their website. Once there, you will also find pictures, videos and other information regarding Adventure Tejas and Ultimate Sacrifice Association.

To ride along with Adventure Tejas in the event or become a sponsor of Adventure Tejas, the best way to do so is by contacting Steven Cavazos by email at stephen@adventuretejas.com

Donations and sponsorships made directly to Adventure Tejas will go toward helping the riders off-set the cost of the tour.

Adventure Tejas keeps their Facebook and Instagram feed rolling with pictures, videos, and other information. You will also be able to follow the charity ride as they post pictures and videos, when they can, on their website and social media. Merchandise like shirts, cups and hats are also available on their website.
