UPDATE 05/11/2018- The Pearsall police department and several other law enforcement agencies located Ariana Escobar, 12, Thursday evening.
According to a missing person report, Ariana Escobar was last seen in Pearsall on April 20th at a Pizza Hut along North Oak Street where she was eating with her grandparents.
Ariana was living in CPS custody and Jesus and Cecilia Cadena reported that their granddaughter had just finished a CPS hearing in Pearsall where a judge had allowed them to take Ariana to lunch.
Jesus Cadena says they went to pay and Ariana told them she wasn’t feeling good and wanted to throw up. Minutes later she was gone.
Police say Ariana had her grandfather’s cell phone, which had been turned off. The cell phone and her flip-flops were found at a nearby business.
Recently reported by News 4 San Antonio, Escobar’s biological mother, Melissa Escobar, claims that Escobar reached out to her saying that she wanted her mom to help her get her voice heard.
She continues to tell her mother that she had to leave and couldn’t take it anymore. She said that she was allegedly abused while in state custody. Ariana states that she has suffered so much and had told CPS everything but nothing had been done to help her.
A recording of the message was taken but it hasn’t been verified that the voice on the message is the that of the missing girl.
The recording was sent to the Pearsall Police Department as well as Child Protective Services.
Melissa hasn’t had custody of the 12-year old for about two and a half years and was adamant that she didn’t know the whereabouts of her daughter.
After the new developments, the Pearsall Police Department recently decided to expand the search for the missing 12-year-old.
Ariana has black hair and brown eyes, she’s 5’2 and weighs 80 pounds. If you see her or can provide any information regarding this case, please call 9-1-1 immediately.
