The Kerr County Sheriff’s Office is hosting a Citizen’s Academy to start on Wednesday, August 1, 2018, at 6 PM. Applications can be picked up at the Kerr County Sheriff’s Office located at 400 Clearwater Paseo Drive in Kerrville.
The Academy will have a limit of 25 participants and applicants must meet certain criteria and complete the necessary application and release forms. A criminal history and background investigation will be conducted on each person applying. To participate, applicants must be 18 years of age, live in Kerr County and not have been convicted of any crime.
“The Sheriff’s Citizen’s Academy is designed to give the citizens of Kerr County a working knowledge of the Kerr County Sheriff’s Office. The course consists of 11 classes, instructed by personnel from various divisions of the Sheriff’s office and County offices.”
Graduation will be held on the 12th week, October 17, 2018. The Academy is offered free of charge and meets once a week on Wednesday evenings from 6 PM- 9 PM in the training room of the Kerr County Sheriff’s annex.
After the review and background investigation is complete, you will be notified if you have been selected to attend the Academy. Once an individual completes the Academy, the Kerr County Sheriff’s Office says that applicants are invited to become members of the Sheriff’s Citizen’s Academy Volunteer Program (at the discretion of the Sheriff).
