On May 9, 2014, Cody Adams, 18, and his girlfriend were driving home from Bandera to Center Point when a drunk driver crashed into them, killing Cody and severely injuring his girlfriend. In honor of Cody, his family has set up a scholarship fund in his memory to award a senior band student at Center Point High School with a scholarship to college.
To help raise the funds for the scholarship, the Adams family has begun hosting the Cody Car Show. This will be the second year for the car show which will take place on July 21, 2018, from 8 AM until 3 PM at the Hill Country Youth Event Center in Kerrville.
Along with a car show, there are many other fun events planned for the day. Registration starts at 8 AM and will last until 11 AM. Breakfast tacos will be available from 8 AM to 10:30 AM. BBQ lunch, $10 per plate, will be served at 11:30 AM and the awards ceremony is at 3 PM.
A few awards that participants can win will include Excellent in Show, Best in Show, and Top Mustang (Cody Man Award).
Other activities going on to help raise money for the Cody Adams Memorial Scholarship Fund are a silent auction, 50/50 prizes, and door prizes.
This will be a non-alcoholic family event so bring your kids to the kid zone and enjoy music by a DJ.
Other ways that the family of Cody Adams raises money for their fund is from t-shirts sold during their annual “Cruise for Cody” drive. They have been able to raise as much as $1,500 each year for the first three years this event has been taking place.
If you are interested in donating to the fund but can’t make it to the Cody Car Show on July 21, 2018, feel free to visit Kerr County Federal Credit Union to directly make a donation under the Cody Adams Memorial Scholarship Account.
All proceeds made from the Cody Car Show will go to the scholarship fund. The Hill Country Youth Event Center is located at 3785 Hwy 27 in Kerrville.
