KACC History Camp coming up, aims to bring fun and history to local youth

The Kerr Arts and Cultural Center has several openings for their upcoming History Camp. The camp dates are July 23 through July 27 from 9 AM until 12 PM. KACC’s History Camp is said to give 4th, 5th, and 6th graders the opportunity to have fun making crafts and learning about our history.

The schedule for the History Camp, as provided by Kerr Arts and Cultural Center and Kerr County Historical Commission, is as follows:

  • Monday- Archaeology- Learn about arrowheads and how to find and identify interesting rocks in the Hill Country
  • Tuesday- Daughters of Texas Revolution bring their trunk filled with clothing and items used long ago. You will hear stories about early Texas life for people your age.
  • Wednesday- Clifton Fifer, renown storyteller, musician, poet, and actor, will bring toys, games and musical instruments.
  • Thursday- Texas Rangers tell of their honor code and present the group with Texas Ranger Badges and certificates, making them Junior Texas Rangers.
  • Friday- Tales of Texas trail rides and ranching with a live longhorn steer.

Buzzie’s will be providing lunch for participants. There is a limit of 24 campers and the cost for the camp is $125.
