Medina ISD has released information about their mandatory drug testing program. They state that drug testing is for students in grades 9-12 participating in athletics, organizations, or driving/parking on campus. Drug testing is set for July 31st from 8 AM until 4 PM at the Gym.
To be specific, Medina ISD has said in their Notice for Drug Testing that students who wish to participate in interscholastic athletics, cheerleading, academic clubs, special interest clubs, musical performances, dramatic productions, student government, and any other activities or group that participates in contest, competitions, or community service projects on behalf of or as a representative of the district as well as students wishing to receive driving/parking privileges on school property must attend the upcoming drug testing.
According to Medina ISD, “Students will not be allowed to participate in practices until they have been tested and passed their drug test. Should they fail their drug test, they will have one more opportunity to be tested. Should they fail the test a second time, they will not be allowed to participate in athletics, organizations, or drive/park on campus for one year.”
If students who wish to be involved in extracurricular activities do not show up for the July 31st drug test they will be ineligible for extracurricular activities until a future make up test is scheduled.
