It has been announced by the City of Kerrville that, in alliance with their Drug Take Back Day, Walgreens has begun to offer a medication disposal kiosk. The kiosk will be placed in the pharmacy section and medications can be dropped off anytime between 6 AM and midnight Monday through Sunday.
According to Walgreens Manager Ed Walsh, citizens may dispose of their prescription medications, over the counter medications, vitamins, ointments, patches, lotions, aerosol cans, and even their pets medication.
“Simply take your unwanted, unused, or expired medications to Walgreens safe medication disposal kiosk and drop them in; just like putting a letter in a mailbox.”
It is added that Citizens may not dispose of needles, inhalers, thermometers, hydrogen peroxide, and illegal drugs.
Walgreens is working with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration and since beginning the program in February 2016, Walgreens is said to have collected over 270 tons of medication.
