91-year-old Kerrville resident passes away as a result of last week’s IH-10 wreck, name released

UPDATE (08/06/18)- The Texas Department of Public Safety reported that the Alford Wilson, 91, of Kerrville, was the man who passed away after Tuesday’s wreck near mile marker 513 on IH-10.

The wreck happened at about 12:20 PM when Wilson’s 2011 Toyota Rav4, going eastbound, veered into the way of the 2010 Freightliner semi-trailer, driven by Jose Guadalupe Cervantes, a San Antonio resident.

Cervantes tried to avoid hitting the Toyota but the trailer jack-knifed and landed on its side.

It is said that both men were wearing seatbelts, however, Wilson was pronounced dead at the scene. Cervantes was flown to Fort Sam Medical Center in San Antonio.

The accident caused the interstate to be shut down while first responders assisted and cleared the scene. The accident is currently being investigated by DPS.

ORIGINAL STORY (07/31/18)- A major motor vehicle accident involving an 18-wheeler and an SUV at mile marker 509 eastbound occurred today at around 12 pm.

One fatality has been confirmed but no other information has been released yet.

Commuters say that traffic is backed up for at least three miles.
