Community’s help requested to vote for Families & Literacy, Inc. to receive a $25,000 grant

Families & Literacy Inc. is one of the Top 200 State Farm Neighborhood Assist causes and voting is open to the community to select the local organization to receive a $25,000 grant for funding Education, and Safety and Community Development projects. They earn this grant if they get voted into the Top 40.

As a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization, Families & Literacy, Inc. provides service to Kerr County, Bandera County, Gillespie County, Kendall County, and Kimble County. They offer educational services for adults in the community. They teach approximately 300 “adult learners” per year, including around 1,100 Kerr County Jail adult learners per year, and they also teach education for small businesses.

Families & Literacy, Inc. is said to be the only provider in Kerrville of General Education Development test prep courses and you can also use them to register for the GED test. Among the afore-mentioned services, they teach Adult Basic Education, an English as a Second Language class, Citizenship, Computer Skills, and they also have programs called Parenting with Love and Logic and For Kid’s Sake.
