It has been announced that Healthgrades has awarded Peterson Health a 5-star rating for Vaginal Delivery. Peterson Health describes that the 5-star rating means that the hospital’s clinical outcomes are statistically significantly better than expected when treating the condition or performing the procedure being evaluated.
Peterson Health says that expectant mothers are provided with customized and comfortable birth experiences and high-quality obstetric care by Peterson Regional Medical Center, Peterson Women’s Associates, and the team of caregivers at The Baby Place.
In the announcement by Peterson Health, President, and CEO, Pat Murray says, “A select few hospitals across the United States are recognized for better than expected outcomes. We are thankful that these results demonstrate excellence in providing a safe, caring experience for new moms and their babies. Our exceptional Peterson Health team of caregivers – obstetricians, midwives, pediatricians, nurse practitioners and many others – work collaboratively to achieve success in meeting the needs of our pregnant women and their families.”
A patient of Peterson Health says, “After reflecting on my delivery of my son this past Saturday, as well as the care I received the last six weeks of my pregnancy since moving to the area, I can truly say that I am blown away by the incredible team I had the privilege to know. Having met every single midwife, I went into my labor knowing with confidence I was going to be supported and empowered as a mother bringing a child into this world. I felt heard. The team, not only the midwife, but also the staff at Peterson Regional Medical Center, truly took the time to listen to my needs and desires. They took the time to ensure I was fully aware of everything taking place and honored my desires to the best of their ability. There is nowhere else I would rather be when going into labor that the capable hands of these folks!”
“With more options than ever on where to receive care, consumers need to do their homework. Hospitals that have received a 5-star rating have shown dedication and expertise, resulting in high-quality outcomes for patients,” adds Brad Bowman, MD, Chief Medical Officer, Healthgrades.
An example given was, “From 2014 through 2016, patients having a Vaginal Delivery in hospitals with 5-stars have, on average, a 42.7% lower risk of experiencing a complication while in the hospital than if they were treated by hospitals with 1-star.”
