The public is invited to a reception following the upcoming City Council meeting on August 14 to honor Kerrville’s longtime City Secretary, Brenda Glenn Craig, who is set to retire on August 17. Craig is said to have served the City of Kerrville for over 37 years, beginning her work in 1981.
Her secretarial duties included, but were not limited to, doing research assistance for the public and city staff, being the custodian for the official city records, preparing council agendas and official minutes, preparing legal notices for council agendas and other city issues for publication and posting. Craig also maintained the city seal and attested all city documents. She was responsible for oaths of office and maintained boards and commissions membership rosters. On top of all of that, she received bids, attended bid openings, responded to public information requests and served as the city’s elections administrator and records manager.
“Brenda has served the community she loves with steadfast dedication for many years,” City Manager Mark McDaniel said. “Simply put, her knowledge, skills, productivity and integrity are exceptional. In my relatively short time here, she has been an invaluable resource and has become a respected friend. Her family here at City Hall wishes her all the best in her well-deserved retirement.”
The City Council meeting will take place on Tuesday, August 14 and the reception will immediately follow from 5 PM- 6 PM. The meeting and reception will be located at the Kerrville City Hall at 701 Main Street in Kerrville.
