Yesterday, August 9, a public service announcement has been made by the Bandera County River Authority & Groundwater District stating that recreational contact and swimming in the Medina and Sabinal rivers may be hazardous.

This warning includes their tributaries, which by definition are the rivers and streams that flow into the larger rivers and lakes.

They are strongly advising river visitors to avoid contact due to the low flow and no flow waters caused by the drought and high temperatures. Conditions like this make potentially harmful organisms present in the water.

If the status of this announcement changes, an update will be issued. Please contact the BCRAGD office with any concerns and questions. They are open Monday through Thursday from 7:30 AM- 5 PM and Friday from 7:30 AM- 4:30 PM. Their phone number is 830-786-7260.
