On Wednesday, September 12, from 10 AM until 5 PM, Peterson Health and HEB are joining forces to offer the community the annual Flu Shot Clinic. The Flu Shot Clinic will take place at the Hill Country Youth Event Center where 4-year-olds and up can come by and get their flu shot.
Once you arrive, Peterson Regional Medical Center volunteers will check people in and HEB pharmacists and Schreiner University nursing students will be there to administer the vaccination. There will be a vaccine station as well as a drive-through station.
“Everyone above lends their time and profession to make this annual event a true community health and wellness effort,” says Peterson Health.
Every year, with the support of the City of Kerrville, Kerr County, EMS, and others, the flu shot clinic serves an average of 1,000 community members.
Along with flu shots being administered, EMS, Kerr County staff, and certified volunteer crisis management volunteers will spend the day assisting and simulating crisis emergency efforts.
4-6-year-olds may be vaccinated if a physician’s prescription is brought and a parent or legal guardian must be present for children ages 4-18.
For those 65 and over, only the high dose immunization, Flublock will be offered. The cost is $69.99, but Peterson Health says that Medicare B covers 100% of the cost. For residents that are 64 and under, Flucelvax Quad is offered for $39.00.
When people show up, volunteers will be on-site to direct them to either the two-lane drive up area or the vaccine station.
