Man accused of stealing cash register from Chili’s in Boerne, running from police, apprehended

BOERNE, TX – A man accused of stealing a cash register from Chili’s Restaurant in Boerne, then leading police in a pursuit that ended in San Antonio, has been apprehended by police in Comal County.


Police say that Samual Jay McDonald, 39, of Bulverde TX, entered the To-Go door of Chili’s Restaurant on Wednesday, October 3rd and stole their cash register box from the countertop.

“One of the Chili’s employees observed the subject taking the cash register box and begun struggling with the suspect.

The suspect ultimately got away from the scene in his vehicle with the cash box after a brief altercation with several patrons that were on location,” says a Boerne Police Department press release.

McDonald allegedly drove toward San Antonio on I-10, and was located by Fair Oaks Ranch Police Department near Fair Oaks Parkway. That’s when police say that he was pursued into San Antonio.

According to police, the suspect then crashed his vehicle into another vehicle and fled into a heavily wooded area, near UTSA Boulevard in San Antonio.

McDonald remained at large until Thursday, October 4th, when he was arrested in Comal County on several warrants.

Burglary of Habitation – Kendall County
Burglary of Habitation – Kendall County
Theft – $750-$2500 – Bexar County
