NEW BRAUNFELS, Tx. (HCBN)- Three men, ages 18, 19, and 21, have been arrested in New Braunfels after authorities determined that the individuals were allegedly recklessly discharging firearms.
According to the New Braunfels Police Department, around 3 PM on December 5, officers responded to a report of numerous shots being fired in the area of Rueckle Road and Morningside Drive. Upon arrival, NBPD officers heard a number of gunshots so immediately established a perimeter affecting Morningside Drive, Rueckle Road, and the northbound IH-35 frontage road in that area.
NBPD reported that residents in the immediate area were notified to stay inside their homes until authorities gave them the all-clear. It was noted that the area’s bus traffic from Morningside Elementary School was also rerouted.
Three adult males were found in the brush line, and with the help of a Texas DPS helicopter, they were arrested without incident. NBPD’s initial investigation indicated that the three males were not shooting to harm anyone; they were allegedly recklessly discharging their firearms. No injuries or damages from this incident have been reported.
As stated by NBPD, the three male individuals were taken to the Comal County Jail. They are facing criminal charges for reckless discharge of firearms.
Authorities eventually gave residents in the area the all-clear and most of the rerouted traffic resumed to normal, says NBPD.
“The New Braunfels Police Department would like to commend the Comal County Sheriff’s Office, the Comal County Constable’s Office from Pct. 3, and Texas DPS for their assistance during this incident. NBPD would also like to thank the residents and drivers in the area of this incident for their patience while officers ensured the safety of all involved.”
A search for the firearms used was still ongoing as of yesterday afternoon. No further details have been released at this time.
