The value of exports grows by 7% and leaves behind the signs of slowing down. The accumulated increases from 0.7% to 2.6% in a month
When the statistics showed a clear trend of slowdown in the export of the ceramic sector, the Ministry publishes the data for May and, in a single month, corrects with a 7.2% increase the slowdown that was suffering Foreign trade industry.
The tile accelerates the value of exports in May and reaches sales worth 293 million euros abroad, which represents an increase of 7.2% year-on-year.
With the foreign trade data for May, it is extracted that in the accumulated of the first five months of 2019, the tile sector has sold abroad for 1,259.8 million euros, representing 2.6% more than in the same period of the previous year.
The export percentage higher than 2.5% until May means increasing the figures with which it said the goodbye last year 2018, although it is true that there are still many months ahead and last year the second semester was especially complicated for manufacturers of ceramic products
In this regard, it should be remembered that the tile sector closed the last year 2018 with total sales amounting to 3,600 million euros, which meant an increase of 2% over the same period last year.
As far as exports are concerned, their value stood at 2,710 million euros, with year- on- year growth compared to the previous year 2018 of 1%. At the moment, from January to May, the increase reaches 2.6%, according to data published yesterday by the Regional Directorate of Commerce of the Valencian Community.
In addition, the 2.6% growth accumulated in exports of the tile sector from January to May is also, although slightly, higher than that experienced in the Valencian Community as a whole, where the value of foreign sales rebounds 2.3 % until last May.
Overall, the province of Castellón has exported 771.5 million euros in May, which represents a 10.3% year-on-year increase. In fact, Castellón is the province where exports grow the most, ahead of Valencia (8.2%) and Alicante (7.8%). On the other hand, the national average grows by 5.5%.
The accumulated export from January to May in the province of Castellón, however, continues to be negative as a whole. Sales reach 3,409.8 million euros in the first five months of the year, representing a 1.3% decrease in the annual rate.
The rest of the provinces are positive. In Alicante, the export rises by 1.6%, while in Valencia it is 4.2%, with values of 2,330 million and 7,801 million euros, respectively, from January to May. From the Community, it has been exported to 122,469 million euros, which represents an increase of 1.9% until May.
